Catherine uses the comprehensive Nutrition Programme Questionnaire (NPQ) designed
by the nutritionist Patrick Holford
at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London.
This covers information relating to your medical history, your diet, activity levels
and your lifestyle. This usually takes about 20 minutes to complete. You are required
to return the completed questionnaire prior to the consultation.
The first consultation lasts about 1 hour 15 minutes. During this time Catherine will make an assessment of your current nutritional status by discussing the information you have provided on the NPQ along with your eating habits.
Catherine will then explain nutritional aspects relating to health concerns and the steps you should take to address them. It may be that some areas require further investigation, therefore a biochemical test may be recommended, e.g. food intolerances, hormone imbalances or digestive complaints.
A personalised dietary programme will then be constructed and you will be given relevant handouts and plans to support these suggestions. A programme of nutritional supplements may also be recommended in order to correct any biochemical imbalances and nutrient deficiencies.
The aim is to create a plan that is both appropriate to your needs, budget and achievable within your lifestyle.
Any questions can be addressed by email or telephone.
Usually a follow up consultation is recommended about 6 weeks after the initial meeting and lasts about 30 minutes. This is to assess the progress of your plan, to discuss any testing that may have been suggested and to update or change any recommendations made.
It may be beneficial to meet for further consultations. This will depend on your health issues and your individual goals.
